About Us

PowerOverEthernet.com is a very popular website, receiving over 500,000 page views per year. Established by Don Findlay in 2005 at a time when PoE was about to explode, the site became highly regarded throughout the world and was maintained by Don until 2009 when ill health forced him to retire. The site remained fairly static until early 2012, when Tony Wright took over as the new Editor, and we're also pleased to report that Don continues to enjoy his retirement.

PoE has changed a lot in the last few years; the IEEE802.3at specification was ratified in 2009 thus increasing 'official' power ratings for PoE to 30W, and a number of proprietary standards have come to market, extending power capabilities to 60W, 100W and beyond, with the practical limit being reached at around 200W. With so many 'standards' we needed to look at a different way of organising and classifying our content. The result of this is:

All content from 2005 up to the end of 2011 is now accessible via the 'Archive' link in the main menu. It contains a wealth of early PoE articles and technical information.
From the beginning of 2012 and as far as possible, products are now broadly classified into power bands, these being: Up to 35W, Up to 65W, and More than 65W.

We update the site regularly and often, so do visit us regularly to catch all the latest news from the PoE world. Our news and product content is mainly gathered from manufacturers sending us press releases and news. We talk to the leaders in the market and search the web for relevant stories. A listing complete with your Logo in the Sponsor Panel on every page except other major Sponsors’ Microsites. On the front page major sponsors are listed prominently in the left hand panel.
A Microsite (one page) dedicated to your company where your recent product stories featured on PowerOverEthernet.com are listed and there‘s plenty of space for your marketing content or product vision. Clickthroughs on backlinks to your own website are recorded, as well as visits to your Microsite and article views. We develop your Microsite free of charge, though we do require suitable copy.

All banners or logos as described above link to your own Microsite page. Your Microsite pages provide links as required back to your own website.
Mailouts - as a major sponsor we include your logo and ‘sponsored by’ legends in our regular newsletters.

Headline Banner

Our headline banner system is shown on almost all pages and displays one from a maximum of 8 banners, rotated randomly per page view.

Early adopters will first receive all views, then 1 in 2, 1 in 3 etc. to a minimum of 1 in 8 if all slots become taken.

We have adopted the ‘Leaderboard’ format at 720 x 90 to give the maximum exposure in this prominent position.

Ad Buttons

Ad buttons appear on the top right of the home page only. The five slots are randomly rotated per page view drawing from a maximum of 10 buttons.

Ad buttons are designed to give a strong presence at affordable rates.
