Offering up to 60W Power over Ethernet (PoE), the OmniSwitch 6860 access switch supports next generation devices that require higher power.
Alcatel-Lucent has developed a gigabit access switch family with embedded analytics and programmability.The OmniSwitch 6860 has an innovative ASIC and coprocessor that provides wire-rate deep packet inspection (DPI) and policy enforcement right at the edge of the network. Additional network capabilities give IT departments more insight into application usage, bandwidth consumption, and enables prioritization, QoS and security.
Featuring four unique 1G PoE ports that offer up to 60W Power over Ethernet (PoE), the OmniSwitch 6860 access switch supports next generation devices that require higher power, such as small cells that combine cellular and Wi-Fi, and high definition video surveillance cameras. The enhanced models of the OmniSwitch 6860 family also support emerging services such as application fingerprinting for user authenticationand network analytics. The comprehensive security features to secure the network edge while accommodating user and device mobility with a high degree of integration between the wired and wireless LAN.
The OmniSwitch 6860 access switch is also SDN-enabled with the support of OpenFlow and OpenStack.
