According to a recent report from market researchers IDC, Power Over Ethernet (PoE) will ultimately become a defacto technology embedded in LAN switches. "As enterprise IP telephony and wireless LAN technologies become more mainstream in 2005, PoE shipments is expected to more than double this year," says Grace Yeo, a Research Manager

The Power over Ethernet Consortium tests Power over Ethernet products and software from both an interoperability and conformance perspective, some of the world's leading PoE manufacturers such as PowerDsine, Linear and Texas Instruments attended the last group test in June 2004.
