The POE36U meets power specifications released in draft 3.0 of the IEEE802.3at that was approved for ballot at the end of March.

“The POE36U is designed to meet the latest developments proposed by IEEE802.3at,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing, Phihong USA. “This device has the layer 1, 2 finger classification to indicate to the power device that it is a high-power, Type 2 device.”

This device is designed with the protocol required for Cisco AP1250 Series access points to run in full power mode. The POE36U provides fully compliant detection, disconnect and voltage control. The adapter is Gigabit-compatible and incorporates diagnostic LEDs. Features include overvoltage, over-current, and short-circuit protection.

In addition, the single-port adapter is 2-finger, Layer 1-classified and is backwardcompatible with IEEE802.3af. Pricing for Phihong’s POE36U single-port adapter is $49.95 each.
